HYDERABAD: A family was robbed of cash, prize bonds and other valuables by a gang of six burglars in Latifabad Unit-9 on Thursday afternoon, officials at the B-Section police station said.

Quoting one of the family members, Arslan Rajput, the police said that six armed men, three of them wearing masks, riding three motorcycles came to the house located in Block-E. Five of them broke into the house at around 1:30pm and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint while the sixth one stood guard at the gate.

During their 45-minute stay in the house, the burglars collected gold jewellery, cash, prize bonds and other valuables, Mr Rajput said, claiming the booty to be worth around Rs1 million.

DSP Ghulam Hussain Mastoi, verifying the claim, said an FIR was yet to be registered.
