THATTA, Sept 15: Thar, Kachho and Kohistan regions and tail-end districts of Thatta and Badin have generally been benefited by recent rains which surfaced breeding grounds for livestock in these areas.

This was said by Sindh livestock and fisheries director general Dr Baz Mohammad Junejo while talking to this correspondent here the other day.

He said the growing graph of salinity and ecological and environmental degradation in coastal Thatta and Badin districts for the last couple of years and continuous droughts in Thar had brought the areas at the verge of devastation but benefits of the recent rains could be witnessed soon.

Mr Junejo said owing to the emergence of vast breeding grounds in Thar, Kachho and Kohistan, livestock would help generate revenues.

He said the province obtained 12 million tons of milk, 0.45 million tons of meat, 6.5 million tons of wool, 2.215 million tons of hides and 1.344 million tons of skin per annum from livestock.
