KARACHI: Two doctors were shot dead in a short span of time in Nazimabad area on Saturday in a fresh wave of violence in the city which also saw the killing of a shopkeeper in Gulberg.

Dr Akbar Ali was shot dead in Paposh Nagar when he was seeing patients in his Al-Syed Clinic, police said.

Ten minutes after the murder, a homoeopath came under attack in the same neighbourhood. Yawar Hussain was pulling down the shutter of his clinic near Khilafat Chowk when he was gun­ned down by gunmen on a motorcycle, police said.

In Gulberg, Abdul Rauf was shot dead while he was busy in his shop.

Meanwhile, clashes between two rival criminal groups left more than 20 people injured in parts of Lyari. Using grenades and guns, the criminals indulged in battles in Lea Market and Jhat Pat areas. Most of the injured were common people who were hit by stray bullets.
