QUETTA: A two-day polio eradication campaign was launched in high-risk areas of Quetta district on Saturday amid tight security.
The health department has set up 439 teams comprising male and female workers which would visit 15 zones in the district during the campaign. Seventeen union councils in the district have already been covered in a separate drive.
“An anti-polio campaign has been started in high-risk areas of Quetta district,” Dr Sher Ahmed Satakzai, the District Health Officer, said and added that during the campaign approximately 216,000 children would be administered vaccination drops.
“We have launched the anti-polio campaign with full security arrangements in Quetta district,” he said. No compromise would be made on the security of health workers and volunteers engaged in the campaign, he added.
