80pc of Lahore's petrol stations closed due to cut in supply

LAHORE: Transporters and commuters suffered as a result of a drastic slash in the supply of petrol to the provincial capital city, as 80 per cent of filling stations in Lahore closed down Thursday.
A representative of the associations of petroleum dealers told Dawn that the remaining pumps, which were open, would also be shut down if the supply of petrol was not restored.
Lahore's daily consumption of petrol is 2.5 million litres whereas the current supply to the city stands at 400,000 litres.
There are a total of 280 filling stations operating in Lahore. At least 119 of the filling stations are owned by the state-owned oil company PSO while the rest are privately owned.
Transporters and commuters were the worst to suffer as long ques were seen at the filling stations which managed to remain open.
Commuters complained that due to fuel shortage the transporters had tripled the fare, causing hardships to them.

No petrol even in Rawalpindi & Attock as far as i know and the whole punjab is suffering from this, what a country no Gas No electricity no petrol :( govt is totally flopped in managing the basic issues of common people. We have to pay double to move from one place to another due to this. By decreasing the pricing none of the price of Flour,Sugar and many other basic necessity things came down.

Now what will be their excuse. Even a blind person can see what is going on. Khadim e Ala has been running Punjab for God know how many years. Still majority of Lahori supports him. @Junaid No people don't support PMLN. That is what this is all about. NA122/NA124, you pick any seat. Every seat was stolen methodically. And their is no recourse. But IK, please don't raise your voice because we are fighting a war. And who is fighting this war. It is definitely not this government. So what good are they? And another thing, the price of petrol should be cut to Rs 50 a liter from the 85 that they are charging. That is where the price of crude stands in the world market today - well below $50 a barrel.

I am from india. It is difficult for me to understand why there are shortage of gas. When the consumers are ready to pay for it. why cant the government just import it. Crud oil price in international market is lowest in last 4 years.
