LAHORE: PPP South Punjab President Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Saturday resigned from the office on “medical grounds”.

“Mr Shahabuddin has resigned from the office of PPP south Punjab president after he has undergone spinal surgery,” a party leader told Dawn on Saturday.

Mr Shahabuddin had not been active in the party politics since he lost the opportunity to become the prime minister in the previous PPP regime because of some allegations against him in ephedrine case.
