Website review: Infographics!

Published January 24, 2015

HAVE you ever experienced a situation when you presented your ideas or your presentation regarding any topic but nobody seemed impressed by the design or production? Even your teachers or your friends were unable to notice anything interesting about it — was it the way you presented them or the graphics you used? Or it could be both.

For situations like this and many more, Easel.ly.com comes in handy. The site offers users an opportunity to create eye-catching, informative and fun graphics on the web, the ‘infographics’, in order to share things like statistics, lesson plans and presentations which takes time, money and graphic design skills, but with Easel.ly you can design your own custom infographic in minutes.

The website features thousands of free infographics templates and design objects which users can customise to create and share their visual ideas. The templates are superb and I think you wouldn’t need to customise them more, but if you do so you have a long list of options to choose from. So are you ready?

The site is very easy to navigate; it’s just about drag and drop design elements! Select a template, the page opens with the selected template then choose from various themes called “Vhemes” here, then choose from the various objects (animals, music, nature, icons, food and many more) then choose background, shapes, texts, charts all by simple drag and drop option with a long list of options in each category. Apart from that, users can upload their own background image and start from scratch.

In just a short time, you can have cool infographic of your ideas, lesson plans, presentation, etc.

According to the website, in 2013, Easel.ly received the “Best Websites for Teaching and Learning Award” from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
