CHARSADDA: The local police claimed on Sunday to have defused a five kilogram improvised explosive device, which was recovered near a filling station on Rajjar bypass road here.

Sources said that the police reached the spot soon after receiving information from local people about the presence a suspicious device there.

They said that the police dected the explosive device, and cordoned off the area.

Afterwards, they called called the bomb disposal squad personnel to defuse the explosive device.

The bomb disposal squad personnel reached the spot and safely defused the bomb. They said that the bomb contained at least five kilogram explosive powder.

The officials said that the police also recovered five feet prima cord and a mobile phone from the spot.

They said that the police registered a case against the unidentified persons and began making efforts to trace the culprits.

However, no arrests were made till filing of this report.
