KOHAT: Adviser to the chief minister on sports and tourism Amjad Khan Afridi has urged the elected representatives to shun their differences and focus on development of Kohat district.

Addressing the inauguration ceremonies of gas supply projects in Mir Ahmedkhel, Kot and Bhora Ghari villages, he said that he would not allow gas supply to Punjab unless every village of Kohat had the facility.

He said that he would criticise any move by the federal government to usurp rights of the people of Kohat.

He was accompanied by his brother federal minister of industries Senator Abbas Afridi. Mr Amjad said that the elements creating hurdles in the way of development of Kohat were not sincere with the people and the party.

Senator Afridi said on the occasion that he had brought the project of setting up the oil refinery in Kohat after requesting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in this regard. He said that survey of Khushalgarh area had been ordered for the project. He promised to solve the drinking water problem in Shakardarra.

However when this correspondent contacted senior officials at the Attock Refinery and ministry of petroleum, Islamabad, on Tuesday to ascertain the repeated claims of the minister, they replied that fate the oil refinery was still undecided.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Shehryar ANewspaper.Peshawar:LatestNewsfridi announced Rs14 million for Bilitang and Dhoda villages on Tuesday.

Addressing a public meeting in Bilitang, he said that provision of basic amenities of life, including drinking water, to people was the responsibility of the government and he would fulfil the requirements of the backwards areas. Party’s district secretary general Sajid Iqbal and others also spoke on the occasion.

POWER OUTAGES: The political and social activists of Kohat and Thall tehsil of Hangu district have criticised the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) for carrying out over 20 hours daily power loadshedding, threatening to move a court against the company if the practice is not ended immediately.

Former district naib nazim Arif Bangash advocate, Shoeb Ali advocate, social worker Mohammad Ishfaq, Wahid Shah and Qeemat Khan in a statement demanded relaxation in the loadshedding hours so that people and businessmen were not affected by it.

They said that people of Sherkot Bala, Mohammadzai, Alizai and Nusratkhel villages had made several requests in this regard to MPA Ziaullah Bangash, but no relief had been provided to them.

PML-N Hangu tehsil president Sardarul Haq in a separate statement said that Pesco should pay the line losses from its own resources instead of burdening the consumers.

A social worker of Sherkot, Manzoor Ali, has asked the people of different localities to form a committee for filing a case against Pesco. He said that overbilling had made the lives of people miserable.
