ISLAMABAD: Former chief justice of Peshawar High Court Justice (R) Abdul Karim Kundi, was laid to rest in his ancestral village in Tank district of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

Justice Kundi passed away peacefully at Islamabad on the evening of February 2, 2015. Recently, he had been suffering from heart and liver related ailments. He was 82.

Justice Kundi served as chief justice Peshawar High Court from 1993 to 1996, and later established his law firm, Kundi & Kundi at Islamabad. He was also a member of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. In 1994, he also served as acting governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for some time.

His funeral was held in his ancestral village Pai of Tank. Justice Kundi leaves behind five sons and two daughters. His son, Afnan Karim Kundi, is additional attorney general for Pakistan at present.
