Bravo Saba Pervez

Published February 8, 2015

You don’t know how to praise someone for breaking down in the middle of a TV show and highlighting the plight of their country. But let’s hand it to actress Saba Pervez for speaking her heart out on a supposedly light-hearted TV programme (one of too many of the same kind) about the appalling sociopolitical situation that she and her countrymen find themselves in.

Her tirade against the current political lot, all of them, sounded genuine and meaningful. The moment she started to shed tears, it silenced the participants as well as the audience of the show, and all they could do was clap in admiration.

Well done, Saba Pervez. You have also dispelled the notion that Pakistani (showbiz) artists aren’t sensitive enough to the issues that really matter.
