ISLAMABAD: PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is likely to meet former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar in a couple of days, party sources said on Monday.

The sources said that Mr Zardari telephoned Mr Sarwar on Monday, a day after the latter met PTI chief Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence and was invited to join the PTI.

When contacted, PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar said that Mr Zardari had a long association with Mr Sarwar and often talked to him. He was not sure if Mr Zardari had any plan to meet Mr Sarwar.

Other sources in the PPP said that Mr Zardari would soon come to Islamabad and stay here for a few days.

The sources said that Mr Zardari was perturbed on party’s affairs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, especially after the exit of former AJK president Barrister Sultan Mehmood from the PPP. Last week, Barrister Mehmood joined the PTI.

Meanwhile, Mr Zardari telephoned PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and the two leaders decided to jointly contest the upcoming Senate polls.
