LAHORE: The brother of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI’s) slain worker Haq Nawaz has challenged the report of a joint investigation team (JIT) before the Lahore High Court for exonerating State Minister Abid Sher Ali and former law minister Rana Sanaullah from murder charges.

Nawaz was killed during a PTI rally in Faisalabad last year allegedly by PML-N workers.

Besides Mr Ali and Mr Sanaullah, the case was registered against Faisalabad District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal and many leaders of the ruling PML-N.

Petitioner Ata Muhammad said the JIT in its report did not even discuss the influential personalities nominated in the FIR. He said the JIT violated the law by not investigating the nominated people.

He asked the court to set aside the report submitted to the trial court and order a fresh investigation.
