If there's one thing Kim Kardashian knows how to do, it's command attention. Last week, she caused yet another Internet frenzy when she posted a picture of herself on her official Instagram account. This picture was different than her other selfies though. Her long black locks were gone, replaced by a neat yet edgy long bob (also referred to as the lob by stylists.)

Captioned "I cut my hair short today", the picture has over 1.8 million likes already. What made the reality television star ditch her long tresses, which she's had her whole life?

Was it her younger sister, Kylie Jenner?

The 34-year-old is now a wife and mother and could be having a mid-life crisis. She's expressed in the past how "hip" she thinks her younger 17-year-old sister, Kylie, is. Although recently she's been wearing teal hair extensions, Kylie really pulls off the shoulder length bob. Is Kim's haircut an attempt to look and feel younger?

The haircut looks quite a bit like Kylie's, without the ombré of course.

While talking to Us Weekly, Kim shared that shorter hair is less of a distraction: "Now I can make it more about the outfit. Before I felt like I had a lot of hair, it’s just easier."

With her bone structure and full pout, she's exuding high-fashion glam and moving towards looking classier. Perhaps the motivation came from Anna Wintour, the editor in chief of Vogue implying that her and her husband, Kanye West are "tasteless.", after the duo appeared on the cover for the magazine in April. Whatever the reason is, the starlet is working the look.

Fans on social media expressed their thoughts on the drastic change:

The struggle is real.

Pakistani celebrities haven't really accepted the crop yet. Only Meesha Shafi and Syra Shahroz were brave enough to chop their locks off recently, keeping it sleek and sometimes opting for flirty waves too.

Maybe it's because the desi community has it ingrained in their minds that long hair defines beauty. I, myself, repeatedly contemplate chopping off my hair and then think, "Oh no, I have a wedding to attend in a month. Short hair with shaadi clothes looks all wrong!"

At the cusp of spring/summer, my guess is that a number of people will start following this red hot trend. It's deceptively low-maintenance and contemporary and perfect for the upcoming warmer season. If you need some motivation, keep in mind that's the 'lob' comes without cutter's remorse. Growing it out won't be a pain as it's not a big commitment, like a pixie cut. Are you brave enough to take the chop?
