DELHI: Anti-corruption campaigner Arvind Kejriwal took oath as Delhi's chief minister at the historic Ramlila Maidan on Saturday, Indian media reported.
The 46-year-old former civil servant's Aam Aadmi (Common Man) Party (AAP) won all but three of the 70 seats in state elections after pledges to tackle entrenched corruption and lower utility bills won over legions of working-class voters willing to give him another chance.
His first term as chief minister lasted just 49 days and ended in chaos a year ago, sparking accusations he was fleeing the tough job of administration.
Before last Saturday's election he apologised for leaving voters without an elected government for a year, telling the Times of India daily that he and his party had “evolved”.
Kejriwal's style remains unconventional, but he appears eager to project a more grown-up image this time around.

I am planning to settle in New Delhi where I can save lots of money. I'll have free electricity, free internet, cheap clean water, Z security etc. Or may be even free accommodation. One can never know, all landlords might turn generous overnight. 10th avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu has taken charge as CM in New Delhi, so I am rest assured that all the commitments will be fulfilled.

This is a big change in Indian politics. First time Indian politicians realised corruption is the main concern of middle class and young Indians. This proved "divide and rule" politics no more works in India. This is also good for BJP, they were just relied on "development" agenda before, now they realised corruption and local issues are also very important to win the elections. This helps BJP to rethink their policy and read the people bit more closely.

Proud moment for Indian democracy - & a shining beacon of hope for democracies everywhere. Arvind Kejriwal represents the hope that truth & honesty can triumph even amidst the messiness of electoral politics. He & his dedicated bunch of AAP volunteers have opened people,s eyes to the idea that politics need not be the cynical, corrupt, hypocritical mess that old style parties like Cong/ BJP have reduced it to. Even the much hyped Modi seems such a moral Pygmy compared to Kejriwal . Also, those who see parallels between Arvind & Imran Khan party are so completely off the mark - there is no commonality . Infact Imran's politics are more like the various South Indian film stars who regularly encash their stardom into electoral gains.

Corruption has eaten resources. Late PM of India Rajiv Gandhi once said that of every govt. scheme, 85% money goes into corruption and hardly 15% reaches to people. AAP has said that they will not compromise on corruption right from day one...

Kejriwal's election shows that people in India (Pakistan) want a corruption free government. However, the past has shown that the hope vanishes when the leaders assume power: some leaders grab money while others power. Let's hope he is un-corruptible.

I am an Indian borned in Pakistan, Lahore, much before partition. I have natural love for Pakistan, but the way Pakistan is going first Islamisation, corruptions, and then extremism just pains me. Why can not Pakistan think, move and act Kejriwal, only and only for good of people, away from religous extremism, terrorism, and most of all corruptions. Landslide win of Arvnd Kejriwal and AAP is one more example of solid Democratic process, it is win for Indian electoral system. This also a win for Common people of urban voters of Delhi state. This positive vote for change , vote of tolerance..vote for hope..vote for secularism. It is also vote against Intolerance, vote against Communal forces be that Church attacks or Shahi Imam!! AAP wil have to fight CORRUPTION in Delhi and fix problems for Delhi Common man..not for Elites or lal battis!! Arvind Kejriwal has managed to sweep away the macho, arrogant leaders of BJP. All the violent attacks by BJP supporters by slapping AK in public have now been given back by their own coin in a civilized manner. Slap on all the faces of BJP leaders by Common people of Delhi, shows the power of India's tolerant and civilized society.
