QUETTA: Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Maskanzai escaped a bomb explosion on the Kharan-Noshki road on Saturday.

The bomb was detonated by remote control when the chief justice’s convoy was passing through a bridge while travelling to Noshki after completing his two-day visit to Kharan.

“He reached Quetta safely after the incident,” a security official told Dawn.

Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani said a vehicle of the Frontier Corps, the last in the convoy, was slightly damaged by splinters. A portion of the bridge was also damaged.

A spokesman for the banned Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.
