PESHAWAR: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Nasirul Mulk, was admitted to a private hospital here on Sunday night. He is likely to be discharged on Tuesday morning after undergoing several tests, including angiography.

The Chief Justice had arrived in Peshawar on Sunday evening and was scheduled to head a bench at the Supreme Court’s Peshawar Registry on Monday and Tuesday, but he felt discomforts and was taken to the Rehman Medical Institute.

According to sources, he was under care of cardiologist Prof Syed Kiramat Ali Shah. An official said that results of the tests were satisfactory, but there was a minor cardiac problem which could be cured through medication.

The cause lists prepared for two SC benches at the Registry here for Monday and Tuesday were cancelled.

The chief justice was also scheduled to administer oath to newly-appointed judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Maqbool Baqar, in Peshawar. The chief justice is now likely to administer the oath in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Justice Nasirul Mulk , who is also a former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court and hails from Swat Valley, usually stays at his residence in Peshawar during visits here.
