LARKANA: Larkana police on Sunday claimed to have recovered two teenage sisters from the custody of the alleged killer of their father in a raid on a house in Gahi Shar village in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh Bhutto. The suspect was quoted as saying that he killed the man when the two girls requested him to get them rid of their cruel father.

Naudero DSP Yasin Tagar told Dawn that the suspect, Sadaruddin Shar, was arrested and the two girls, aged 13 and 15, were recovered in the raid on his house in the village.

SP Kamran Nawaz Panjutha told journalists in his office on Sunday that the raid was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of the suspect and the girls in the house.

The two sisters also appeared before the journalists and stated that Shar and his associates had killed their father, Sardar Ahmed aka Yasir, and since then they had been living together in the village.

A murder case against Shar and his three unknown accomplices was registered at the Gharhi Khuda Bukhsh Bhutto police station.

DSP Tagar said that the victims had been living in Tokawasti village in Bahawalrpur district for about three months. Sardar Ahmed was a labourer and the suspected killer was his friend, the DSP said.

According to the police officer, the girls hated their father due to his cruel attitude. He, along with his daughters, had been on the move, changing places, after burning a man to death in his village some three years ago, said the DSP, adding that he never told the two daughters anything about their mother.

The DSP quoted the two girls as telling the police that “they had asked Sadaruddin Shar to kill their father and he did so on Jan 22”.

According to the police, Shar also confessed to have axed Sardar Khan to death “when the girls begged me to get them rid of their cruel father”.
