LARKANA: Sindh’s Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has constituted a three-member committee to supervise the uplift of sanitation in Larkana city.

Speaking at a press conference here at the press club on Tuesday, Larkana city PPP general secretary Aslam Shaikh said the committee had nominated a group of people in all the 11 union councils of the city to further streamline the work.

They were tasked not only to pinpoint, but also to look into problems and adopt strategy to convey them to the district administration and resolve them with joint efforts. “We will go to grass root level and solve the problems regarding encroachments and faulty sewerage system,” he said. Appreciating the deputy commissioner’s efforts, the PPP leader said he (DC) had made a lot of improvement, and “we are here with the teams to only boost his sincere measures”.

He conceded that the North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC) had not come up to the mark and that was why Mr Khuhro had formed the committee and teams to serve people.

He said soon 200 sanitary workers would be recruited to improve the sanitary conditions and clear roads of illegal constructions for smooth traffic flow.

He expressed the hope that the new project launched under the name of ‘Extension and Improvement of Existing Sewerage System in Larkana’ would be completed in June 2016.
