HYDERABAD, Sept 23: At a joint meeting of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) and senior officials of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company held here on Monday, it was decided that in future the consumers would be informed in advance about detection bills and asked to sign a performa regarding it.
It was also decided that in order to check the theft of electricity in business centres, a representative of traders association would accompany the Hesco team to check pilferage of electricity.
The executive engineer, Gari Khata, Hesco division, Altaf Qureshi, informed the meeting that during the month of August, 750 consumers out of 75,000 in the division had lodged their complaints about the bills, which were redressed.
Former president of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haji Mohammad Yaqoob complained that Hesco staff issued detection bills without any verification just by sitting in their homes.
He said such attitude created harassment among the consumers.
The superintendent engineer, Hesco, Habibullah Khilji, assured the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry that in future the meter reader would show his NIC as well as the Hesco card to the consumers.
CITY NAZIM: The city Nazim, Hyderabad, Haji Moinuddin Shaikh, on Monday met with the superintendent engineer, Hesco, and discussed the problems of the consumers of Paretabad sub-division.
He pleaded for some concessions to the consumers in respect of their outstanding dues.
He said some should be evolved via the media to ensure the payment of outstanding dues by giving some breathing space to the consumers without causing any loss to the company.
The superintendent engineer issued on the spot orders not only for the domestic but also for the commercial consumers that the arrears should be recovered in 15 instalments along with the current bill.
The superintendent engineer said that the sick industrial units could also clear their arrears in 25 instalments.
The city Nazim has advised the consumers to take advantage of this concession and clear their outstanding dues to avoid disconnection of the power supply.
The director of Admissions, University of Sindh, announced on Monday that the last date for submitting application forms and payment of admission fee in the next higher classes in the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, Institute of Information Technology and Institute of Pharmacy under the economical self-finance scheme (evening programme) in BS (IT) part III, IV, BCS part III, IV and 2nd professional BPharmacy for the academic year 2003 has been extended upto Sept 27.
He said admission forms are available at the HBL, Sindh University branch, Jamshoro.
He has notified that if any student fails to deposit fees within the due date his/her name shall be struck off from the university rolls and in case of hostellers the defaulters would have to vacate the hostel room/seat.
The director has further notified that admissions forms for admissions in all bachelors and masters programme for academic session 2004 would be available to the candidates at the branches of the HBL, Old Campus, Hyderabad and Jamshoro, with effect from Sept 25.
He has advised the candidates to submit their pass and marks certificates of matriculation and intermediate, transcript certificates of graduation, domicile and PRC, five passport size photographs, affidavit of Rs30, and copy of NIC along with the admission forms.
RESULTS: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, has announced the results of BA (Hons) part I, II, MA (Hons) final philosophy semester examination of 2002.
The controller has also announced the results of MSc (previous) Chemistry, BPA (Hons) part I, II, III, BPA (previous), BPA final, pass and Honours, and MEd (evening) semester examinations 2002.
