GUJRANWALA, Sept 24: At least 22 dangerous captives of Gujranwala jail were shifted to jails in Rawalpindi and Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, it was learnt here on Wednesday.
The source said that these captives were shifted on the directive of the interior ministry.
It was reported that some prisoners were Indians who were arrested by the border police for crossing over the border. Around 15 captives were shifted to Rawalpindi jail while the rest of them to Kot Lakhpat jail. Their shifting were made under tight security.
The step was taken in view of the untoward incident in the Sialkot jail for the government did not want to take any risk, it was learnt.
IMPRISONMENT: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 awarded 23-year imprisonment and fined Rs400,000 collectively to four accused on Wednesday on the charge of injuring two people during a dacoity.
According to the prosecution, Uzma Bibi, Ijaz, Sajjad and Imran had looted the house of Altaf Hussain in Kamoki and injured Akram and Nazir on resistance on Oct 14, 2002.
