Four children injured in Multan blast

MULTAN: Four children were wounded in an explosion near Naubahar canal in Multan's Samijabad area on Wednesday.

SP (City) Khalid Rauf, told DawnNews that four children, who were bathing in the canal, were wounded after they retrieved a grenade from Naubahar canal and pulled out its pin.

Security and emergency teams reached the spot. The victims were shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment while security personnel cordoned off the area as a search operation went underway.

The bomb disposal squad was also summoned and reached the spot.

Four sheep, grazing within the blast radius, were also killed in the blast.

Security personnel had previously recovered a number of suicide vests from near the blast site during search operations.
