MARDAN: Two women were allegedly shot dead by their rivals here on Friday.

Officials at Jabbar police station told Dawn that the victims identified as Noorina Begum and Sheerina Begum were gunned down by their rivals while they were on way to home in Gaddar Sawaldher area.

The officials said that the victims were apparently 50 to 55 years of age, adding that preliminary investigations suggested that cause of the double murder was an old enmity between the victims and the alleged killers’ families.

The police registered FIR on the complaint of the victims’ relatives against the suspected killers indentified as Kamran, Sufaid, Farman and Mohammad Shah.

Police started making efforts to arrest the culprits who escaped the area after the murder, but no one was arrested till filing of this report late at night.
