LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to expedite work on Sahiwal coal project.
Presiding over a meeting to review energy sector projects, he said concerted efforts were being made to overcome the multiple crises, says a handout.
The chief minister said the Sahiwal project being carried out with Chinese cooperation would be completed in 2017. He said the government was also working on power generation projects based on renewable sources.
Sharif said the federal and provincial governments had also decided to establish gas-based power projects of 3,600MW in the province.
He said the Punjab government would set up a 1,200MW power generation project while the federal would establish 2,400MW schemes which would be operated with gas.

The chief minister said the Punjab government had promoted a corruption-free culture in the province and standard, transparency and speed had been ensured in the execution of development projects.
