MUZAFFARABAD: A traffic police constable was shot dead allegedly by some cattle lifters after he started chasing them at his motorcycle.

The incident occurred near Kangra area of the southernmost Bhimber district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, witness and police sources said.

Mustafa Javed, a resident of Kasguma village of Bhimber, died due to excessive bleeding after the unknown accused, carrying stolen goats, opened fire at him from their Toyota Corolla car, bearing Lahore registration.

The accused, said to be four in number, fled from the scene after committing the crime.
