LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended physical remand of Mustafa Kanju, son of former state minister for foreign affairs Siddique Kanju, for further six days for his involvement in murder of student Zain.

The South Cantonment police produced Kanju before the court after completion of his first eight-day remand and pleaded to extend the custody for another 10 days saying the investigation team had been changed. The investigation officer told the court that Kanju was also involved in another case of kidnapping a man.

The counsel for the accused argued that police had recovered everything from his client and the court should not grant further physical remand. The counsel questioned the alleged reluctance of police to arrest guards of the woman, whose car had hit the car of the accused.

Presiding judge Rai Ayub Marth still extended the physical remand of Kanju for six days and directed the police to complete investigation till next hearing.

Meanwhile, the LHC transferred judge Rai Ayub Marth to the Rawalpindi ATC No 1.
