LAHORE: Eight men thrashed DJ Butt, the man who was responsible for keeping the sound system in order during the Islamabad sit-in of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), in Model Town late on Friday night.

Asif Butt, known as DJ Butt, said he was working in his café at the Bank Square Market when eight men armed with weapons and clubs entered there.

“The attackers first tortured my employees when they refused to disclose my whereabouts. As I came out of my cabin after hearing the noise the attackers started thrashing me.

I pleaded to them what was my mistake and why you people were beating me. No-one even replied to my question.

The attackers dragged me out of my café and were trying to bundle me into a vehicle when nearby traders came to my rescue. The attackers fled while resorting to aerial firing,” said Mr Butt.

He said he did not know why the attackers thrashed him and what they wanted from him.

He said although police had registered a case, they were reluctant to arrest the attackers.

Mr Butt alleged that restaurant owner Samad Bungish had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not leave the market.

Model Town SHO Rizwan Nawaz said that DJ Butt had a scuffle with some market traders over a car parking issue.

He said the case was registered against accused Naveed Kareem Chaudhry, Zulfikar and their seven unidentified accomplices.

He said the police had started investigation and would arrest the attackers.
