Make way for the lady in black for she's now heading to India: Burka Avenger, the Emmy nominated animated show is set to launch on Zee Network this month.
The show has been dubbed in four languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English for an Indian audience.
Speaking about Burka Avenger, Deputy Business Head of ZeeQ, Aparna Bhosle said in a statement: “Burka Avenger is an amazing show; both in terms of quality of animation as well as storytelling. We are always on the lookout for shows with themes that are relevant to Indian children and we are very fortunate that we have this show.
Each episode has a positive message with fun, action and comedy so that it does not come across as preachy. Burka Avenger has won many prestigious awards worldwide and it will be our honor to showcase it in India.”
The show which is about three children in an imaginary city of Halwapur follows their adventure as they fight off the evil henchmen under Baba Bandook with the help of Jiya, who is a teacher by day and a ninja vigilante by night.
The show projects message of gender equality as well as importance of education for all.
The man behind the show Haroon said: “I am very excited to have Burka Avenger launch in India. The fact that Burka Avenger is being dubbed into a variety of Indian languages is a testament to the high production quality and great story telling of the show."
"We are rolling out a worldwide launch for the Burka Avenger series this year so it is fantastic that one of the first territories is India where we are able to reach such a large audience. Bollywood movies and Indian music are loved here in Pakistan so it is wonderful to have our Pakistani produced series being appreciated in India,” he added.
Burka Avenger was not only nominated for an Emmy but has won the Peabody Award, International Gender Equity Prize at Prix Jeunesse, Munich, Best TV Show at Asian Media Awards, Rising Star Award at Canada International Film Festival and was named one of the most "Influential Fictional Characters of 2013” by Time magazine.
