KOHAT: Levies employees in the Frontier Region, Kohat, have demanded risk allowance, like the police force, for doing job in the semi-tribal area, saying they also put their lives in danger while conducting operations against militants and other criminals, including smugglers.
Talking to this correspondent on the condition of anonymity, some of the officials said on Tuesday that 100 levy employees of FR, Kohat, had not been paid their salary for June 2014, after an incident wherein armed dacoits snatched Rs2.7 million from officials in KDA town last year.
Sources said that investigations had been completed in the case, but nobody had been arrested as yet. The levy officials said that they belonged to poor families and could not afford to leave one month salary.
Four armed dacoits had snatched a bag full of money for the Levies staff in KDA, Kohat, which was being brought to the office of assistant political agent for payment of June last salary.
DBA OFFICE-HOLDERS: Aamad Azam advocate has been elected president and Ameer Ajam secretary general of the district bar association here on Tuesday.
Accroding to results, Samina Khurram was elected vice-president, Mudassir Saeed librarian and Fahad Yousuf advocate joint secretary unopposed.
Aamad Azam secured 124 votes against former president Mohammad Riaz’s 58. The announcement was made by the election board chairman Sajjad Ahmed advocate and its member Malik Ishaq advocate.
Meanwhile, a theatre show arranged at the TMA library hall under the aegis of youth artists union, Kohat, on Tuesday enthralled children as well as elders.
Commissioner Kohat division Jamaluddin Shah who was the chief guest on the occasion lauded the union for organising the function for the children to wipe out the memories of the shocking APS incident from their minds.
He promised that if any organisation wanted to help the children, the Kohat administration would help them in organising functions and also provide financial help. The show also depicted that the armed forces and police were committed to eliminating terrorists from the soil of Pakistan.
NOTICE TO PRINCIPAL: The social and political leaders have served a notice on the principal of Kohat Medical College and chief executive of KDA Teaching Hospital, asking them to cancel appointment orders of outsiders in the Dental College and employ people of the Kohat district on these posts. Advocate Saeed Shah Bokhari has sent the notice to the said officials on behalf of the local leaders. The notice said that under the rules all low grade posts (BPS-1 to 9) must be advertised and only local people should be appointed on them.
