KOHAT: Officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided a house and seized four illegal gateway exchanges in Junglekhel town here on Thursday. They also arrested a man from the house.

Sources said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had informed the FIA that somebody was operating an illegal gateway exchange in the area. The FIA traced the signals which were coming from a house in Junglekhel and conducted a raid along with the police.

The raiding party arrested a man, identified as Sajid Khan, and seized 1,600 SIMs of different companies, operating links, two modems, one computer system and four gateway excahnges from the house. The sources said that the suspect was earning over Rs10 million a month.

They said that the suspect had been taken to the FIA headquarters, Islamabad, from where the team had come here to arrest him.

DRIVING COURSE: A computer simulation-based driving learning system has been introduced at the Traffic Police Driving School for providing training to the people. The school has been established in the old building of city police station where teachers give lectures and practical training to the students.

District police officer Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf said that students attending a computer class at the school found themselves seated in the front seat of a car and saw it running on the screen like in computer games. The drivers feel safe from road accidents, especially while parking the car parallel to the other in the busy bazaars, he said in a statement.

The training is similar to that provided to the under training general duty pilots at the PAF Academy, Risalpur, the DPO said. The programme is quite popular among students and so far 50 females among 436 students have become certified drivers under it.
