Kudos to Guddu Khan for putting on display rare film posters and pictures from his personal archival collection depicting the evolution of the Pakistan film industry at the Alliance Francaise Karachi from April 18 to April 25.

The very well-received exhibition, visited by a cross-section of people, had some delightful posters on view which not only showed the aesthetic side to the art of poster-making (loud, gaudy colours) but also gave a decent account of the trajectory of Pakistani films ever since the country came into being.

For example, it had the poster of Umar Marvi, the first Sindhi language film made in Pakistan. It instilled the hope that someone will get inspired by the show and once again make a Sindhi film. Who says quality Pakistani films are a thing of the past? They are very much here. Just ask Guddu Khan.
