Pak-Iran border commission agrees to open four new trade points

QUETTA: The Pak-Iran Border Commission has decided to establish a hotline, open four new trade points and increase security forces’ patrolling along the borders.

Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah headed the Pakistani delegation at the three-day meeting held in the Iranian city of Zahidan. The governor of Sistan-Baluchestan led the Iranian team at the meeting that concluded on Thursday evening.

Sources said that matters pertaining to border security, trade and drug smuggling were discussed at the meeting. Both sides expressed their reservations on some issues and suggested measures to resolve them.

The meeting decided to discourage human smuggling to European and other countries through Iran from Pakistan. It was also decided to take strict action to stop drug smuggling from border areas of the two countries..
