CHITRAL: Captain Ajmal, who laid down his life in a clash with militants in the Tirah valley of Khyber Agency on Thursday, was laid to rest in his ancestral Washich village of upper Chitral here on Friday.

General Officer Commanding, Swat Division, Maj-Gen Nadir and Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Naeem Iqbal flew to the village with the body of the fallen officer on Friday morning.

The deceased was son of a schoolteacher, Ghazi Mohammad, and nephew of renowned educationist and principal of Chitral Model College, Yar Mohammad Khan.

He left behind a widow and a son, Ayyan Ghazi.

Captain Ajmal happens to be the first commissioned officer of Pak Army from Chitral who laid down his life in the line of duty.

TWO WOMEN END LIFE: Two women allegedly committed suicide in different areas of Chitral during the last two days by jumping into river.

Chitral police told Dawn that in the first case, a married woman of Denin village, Zar Bibi, ended her life by jumped into the river.

Her body was later fished out.

In another incident, Nasira Bibi of Madak village, a mother of three, committed suicide in similar fashion. Her body was also retrieved.

Police are conducting inquiry under section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code to know the circumstances leading to both the incidents.

Meanwhile, a man was killed when a boulder hit a car passing through a hilly road in Bumburate valley. The victim was named Bakht Zarin, resident of Swat district.
