Makran Sports clinch Golden Jubilee football title

KARACHI: Makran Sports FC on Sunday overcame a spirited fightback from Young PIB in the final to clinch the All Karachi Muslim Khatri Association Golden Jublee football Tournament at the Noorani Eid Gah Ground.

The thrilling match stood at 0-0 at the end of regular time but Makran Sports then edged past Young PIB 4-3 in the exciting penalty shootout in front of a sizeable crowd.

Makran Sports captain received the winning trophy plus a cash prize of Rs40,000 while Young PIB’s skipper recei­ved the runners-up trophy with a cash award of Rs20,000.

The two other semi-finalist teams — Young Haqqani FC and Young Azizabad FC — received cash prizes of Rs5,000 each. Mohammad Shehzad, the brilliant goalie of Makran Sports, was given the best player and player of the final awards of Rs3,000 and Rs2,000, respectively.

Chief guest on the occasion was MNA Abdul Waseem who distributed the prizes andd trophies.

Assistant Commissioner New Karachi Arshad Waris, Director Parks DMC Central Akbar Hussain, Suprite­ndent DMC Central Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Interna­tional Footballer and Secretary DFA Central Mohammad Saleem Patni, Nasir Ismail, President Muslim Khatri Association Liaquat Ali also attended the ceremony among others.
