QUETTA: Armed militants opened fire at the convoy of adviser to Balochistan chief minister on finance, Khalid Langove, in Balochistan's Kalat district Sunday, according to Levies sources.
Sources said Langove was unharmed in the attack.
Langove was on his way to his native town Johan when his convoy came under attack at Mangochar Tehsil of Kalat.
Langove's guards retaliated after which the assailants disappeared in the area, sources said.
A large contingent of Levies, police and other law enforcement agencies reached the site and began investigating the incident.
Balochistan government’s spokesman, Jan Muhammad Buledi, strongly condemned the attack and vowed to bring the assailants to book. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Mangochar is considered a sensitive area in insurgency-hit Balochistan. In 2010, former Balochistan governor Zulfiqar Magsi's convoy was also targeted through a remote-controlled blast in the area.
