Kohat trounce Lahore

PESHAWAR, Oct 1: Kohat whipped disjointed Lahore 4-1 on Wednesday in the Inter-regional hockey championship being played at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium.

Right from the start, Kohat Region took a firm grip of the match by displaying a deftness, specially in the rivals 25- yard area, and took an early lead in the fourth minute through inside left Muhammad Asif.

Kohat doubled the lead in the through substitute Rizwan Khan on the field attempt. Rizwan dribbled past three defender on the right before sounding the board to make it 2-0.

Leading by 2-0 at half-time, continued to dominate the proceedings and scored twice through Muhammad Asif (55 minute) and Naseem Khan (58 minute).

Rght-half Waheed Butt sounded the board with his powerful hit on the penalty corner to scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

In the second match Bannu defeated Hazara (W) by 4-0 in another one-sided match. Bannu took the lead in the seventh minute through centre forward Barkat.

Leading 1-0 at half-time Bannu scored three more goals through Rafi Ullah, Hafeez Ullah and Ilyas Khan in the second half.—APP
