LAHORE: Dua for renowned lawyer, social thinker and writer Mahmood Mirza will be offered at 48 Mayo Gardens on Wednesday (today) at 5:30pm.

Mahmood Mirza passed away peacefully on Monday was laid to rest in a local graveyard on Tuesday.

Born in 1932, Mr Mirza devoted his life to the cause of social change which he thought was critical to deal with numerous socio-economic challenges confronting Pakistan.

A corporate tax lawyer for the last 46 years, Mr Mirza had special interest in political economy, comparative economic systems and role of taxation in developing economies.

He authored many books, including ‘Social Change’, ‘Social Evaluation of the Taxation System’, ‘Sindh Today’ and ‘How to modernise a Muslim state’ besides contributing to top-tier dailies on issues of national importance.
