QUETTA: Police claimed on Friday to have arrested another accused involved in an attack on the Ziarat Residency of Quaid-i-Azam.

“Pukar Marri, a resident of Spin Tangi area of Shahrag, was wanted by Ziarat police in the Residency attack case,” SSP Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya said at a press conference.

He said that acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Superintendent of Police Sariab Zahoor Babar Afridi raided a compound in Hazar Ganji, an area on the outskirts of Quetta, and arrested the accused.

The SSP said that Pukar Marri was among the 15 militants who had attacked and destroyed the Ziarat Residency on June 15, 2013. Nine of the attackers had already been arrested, he added.

“During interrogation, Pukar confessed to his involvement in the attack,” Mr Goraya said.
