MULTAN: Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana has said that positive progress will take place for the establishment of a ‘sub civil secretariat’ in Multan in order to transfer powers to the southern Punjab.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, he said his selection for the governor slot by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would compensate the prevailing sense of deprivation among the people of southern Punjab.

He said: “Being a lawyer I am well aware of my constitutional role and I enjoy the support of prime minister and chief minister to complete the development projects of Multan and southern Punjab.”

He said before coming to Multan, he received briefing on Women University, Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University, University of Science and Technology and other projects of Multan and he brought the files of the projects with him which would be reviewed in a meeting with the parliamentarians and government officials on Monday (today).

“Important decisions will be taken in the meeting on these projects,” he said.

He said the current government had launched mega projects for southern Punjab and the “establishment of Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park Project in Bahalwalpur is one of them.”

In meetings with traders’ representatives, the governor said issues of grain market would be resolved very soon.

He said the market committee had Rs270 million funds and he would recommend the chief minister to allow spending of the amount on sewerage system of grain market.
