WHAT is happening in Pakistan? Let us look at the following incidents: The Model Town massacre, Imran Khan’s and Tahir-ul-Qadri’s prolonged ‘sit-ins’, the two JIT reports (one suppressed, the other highlighted), the sacking of Nekokara, the slaughter of 47 Ismailis on a bus, Ayan Ali’s role in money-laundering, Zulfikar Mirza’s allegations against the ex-president, the Axact/Bol scam, the police role in surrounding the Sindh High Court building and the use of masked men to act like ‘Gullu Butts’ and harass Zulfiqar Mirza’s men inside the court premises. And the latest incident of killing of two lawyers by an SHO at Daska.

The way things are moving, it may take the shape of another lawyers movement — this time violent and bloody.

I feel that the chain of events is the result of bad governance, nepotism, disregard for the rule of law and rampant corruption at all levels — from the highest to the lowest.

The question is: who will bell the cat and ensure our rulers are held accountable?
