MARDAN: Tough contest is expected among three candidates on the seat reserved for minorities in the elections of Cantonment Board Mardan, to be held on Friday (today).

The situation is very interesting as candidates for the seat are three while the voters are only two.

In the recently held cantonment board elections in Mardan, two candidates -- one belonging to Awami National Party and an independent -- were declared winners.

As per the scheduled issued by the officials concerned, the two winning candidates will vote for one contender, contesting elections for the reserved seat.

Michel Indaryas is candidate of ANP ticket while Jan Majeed and Rashid Maseeh are contesting the elections as independents.

Polling timing is from 8am to 5pm.

The local people said that it would be a strange situation if the voters didn’t use their opinion in favour of the same candidate and vote for each of the two out of the total three contenders.

The contest would remain tie between the two candidates, ech of whom would get one vote, they added.
