With focus on India, Nawaz vows to counter "anti-Pakistan" acts

ISLAMABAD: During a visit to the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters in the federal capital on Saturday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed serious concern over recent statements made by the Indian political leadership, and said that all possible measures will be taken to counter "anti-Pakistan" acts.

Earlier, Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, in a shocking statement, asserted that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists.
“India will take proactive steps to prevent a 26/11 type attack,” Press Trust of India had quoted him saying.

PM Nawaz and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif met with Director General ISI Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar today, who briefed them on the internal and external security situation of the country as well as ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The ongoing successful Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs), the number of terrorist attempts averted recently as well as terrorists networks busted across the country came under discussion during the meeting.

PM Nawaz lauded the efforts and achievements of the ISI in countering terrorist activities, and paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the agency who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
“We are proud of our intelligence agency and they deserve due recognition and acknowledgement,” said PM Nawaz.
Nawaz said that terrorism and extremism are the biggest challenges to a secure and prosperous Pakistan. He showed his concern over actions of foreign intelligence agencies in destabilising the country.

Nawaz also emphasised the need for a more proactive and coordinated role of intelligence agencies to defeat all threats.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser to PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi accompanied the PM.

I do not believe in conspiracy theories but if there is indeed RAW hand behind some of these acts of terrorism incl. Shia-Sunni violence and attacks in Baluchistan then it needs to be investigated and dealt with severely. Enough is enough.

@Factual, I agreed with you. The statement from Indian defense minister was not Pakistan specific. Rather, it was a general statement that India would tackle terrorism through terrorism. Unfortunately, Pakistan understood the hidden message as Pakistan was/is involving in proliferation of terrorism in India since many decades. One thing is noticeable here clearly, a simple statement from Indian political leadership created a chaotic and panic situation among political leadership and intelligence agencies of Pakistan.

Per capita income....maternal mortality rates..infant mortality rates...nutritional levels..primary health care ( that includes polio vaccination,I suppose?) education ( Malala's trevails,counts here?) religious freedom ( Rimsha Masih) secularism ( under threat from Mumtaz Qadri types!)..so on and on...Pakistan is slowly coming back from the brink? Focus on it and pull yourselves up and away from "failed state" status?
India's defense budget is about $45 billion and a standing army of 1.3 million men and one of the largest air forces in the world and a rapidly maturing blue water Navy..HOWEVER...India's assets will not be used on Pakistan and is not interested in it...UNLESS Pakistan provokes as it did during the Mumbai attack?
India's focus is on economic development and not on war? India has lots of poverty and deprivation issues to attend to and is not likely to spend billions fighting a war?
India tested it's nuclear device in 1974 and for next 25 years did not use it ?:):)

Why is Pakistan leadership so concerned. Even if we believe the media that the Indian Defence Minister said that he is going to neutralize terrorist with terrorist then what is the problem. He is not saying he is attacking Pakistan or Pakistan establishment. He is simply saying that these terrorist from Pakistan are hired mercenaries and that they have no allegiance. So why is the leadership in Pakistan so worried who claims not to support any terrorist and determined to weed it out. Funny.
