KARACHI: Pakistan’s senior string thrashed Hong Kong 3-1 to qualify for the semi-final of the third Asian Team Event snooker championship at Kish Island, Iran, on Saturday.

Last year’s losing finalists pair of Pakistan A that comprised Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sajjad recovered from a poor start to turn the tide in their favour against their opponent. They were home 8-90, 78-39, 68-42, 96-0.

Meanwhile, Pakistan B faces India B in the quarter-final on Saturday night. Pakistan B had notched up victories against Iran C and India A besides suffering loss at the hands of Afghanistan.

The event concludes on Sunday with semi-finals and final on the card.
