ISLAMABAD: Wapda edged past Army in a thrilling final to win the 18th National Women Basketball Champion­ship 2015 at the Sports Gymnasium, Bahria University here on Monday. The event was jointly organised by the Higher Educ­ation Commission and Pakistan Basketball Federation.

Ume-Laila Kulsoom of Wapda stood out with her fabulous performance on the court as her team beat Army by 30-20 points to become the national women basketball champions.

A third position match was also played on Monday where the HEC team beat Islamabad by 49-33 goals.

Asif Bajwa, President, Pakistan Basketball, Federation, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed the trophies, medals and certificates among the position holder teams and players on this occasion. Brig Ghulam Jilani and Naseem Butt also watched the final.
