Pakistan's U17 wrestlers denied Indian visa

Pakistan U17 wrestling team's hopes of competing in the annual Cadet Asian Wrestling Championship were dashed after the Indian High Commission denied them visas for the New Delhi event, DawnNews reported.
The Cadet Asian Wrestling championship will be held from June 11-14, with more than 20 countries taking part in the tournament
Besides hosts India, wrestling powerhouses such as Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Japan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, North and South Korea will be vying for top honours during the four-day long competition. But it seems now that Pakistan will be left out of one more sporting event in India.
The development comes just days after foreign ministries in both countries were embroiled in a verbals over the non-issuance of visas to official missions.
According to the Indian authorities, however, the Pakistani team has been the denied visas because “they failed to submit their paperwork on time.”
An official of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation, though, responded by claiming that the India-bound squad had sent in “all required documents on time and that their applications were sitting with the Indian High Commission for days.
With Cadet Asian Wrestling Championship set to begin in two days, it remains to be seen whether the issue will be resolved in time for Pakistan to able to compete in the event.

I think it takes 3 months to process visas for Pakistan persons by India. Did we apply in time or think sab chalta hai, hum VIP hain, rule lagoo nahi hoteh.

Shouldn't the world body only allow tournaments in a country, which does not deliberately ban athletes, if India does not want Pakistanis on their home soil, then these tournaments should be moved out of India.

All these people from both sides who talk about "brotherly" relations and trade partnerships and India being the honest well wisher of friendship; the TRUTH will NEVER change. Open your eyes everybody. Their country was broken and divided by the British. WHY should they have any sympathy for Pakistan?

well we dont know the details as yet. but it is hard not to imagine india's opposition to Pakistan's involvement in sports that take place on indian soil. IPL, Hockey team... there is a pattern to it.

Pakistan should ask other countries to withdraw until India starts behaving itself and stops bringing politics into games. Otherwise Pakistan should hold its own event and invite all, except of course India as their documents never came in time, if you know, what I mean.

And they say they were sitting in Indian high comission for days, Now thats not the way to work internationally. I think. Sushma Swaraj must consider this case. And grant them visas.

This is a tit for tat reply by India to Pakistan which last week denied visa to its Yoga teacher to conduct Yoga on 21st June - International Yoga day at Indian embassy in Pakistan. Furthermore, second Yoga teacher was also denied for visa.

India should give priority of visa processing in such cases. But at the same time, concerned officials in Pakistan should be aware of processing time taken by Indian Visa office and required documents. I think they wake up from sleep at the last moment.
I don't think, India have done this deliberately. It is very bad if done intentionally.

If you want to compete apply visa on time. We all know that it takes at around 3 months to issue Indian visa (by regular process) to a Pakistani because they do a lot of background screening before issuing visa.

Few Indian junior archers were recently denied visa by US for an International competition. Nobody made anything big out of it. Let's ensure that the team followed full process, provided complete paperwork and enough time for Visa stamping before we go blaming the Indians.

@Good Pakistani Girl Similarly, not Indians ... Indian bureaucrats. By the way the current visa issues seems to be a series of tit for tat incidents. Before this, Pakistan had not issued visas for Indian yoga instructors who were to visit Indian high commission in Pakistan for an event.

Man, please don't blame us fr ur official's laziness. I mean everybody knows tht it takes almost 3 months 2 get an Indian Visa fr any Pakistani nd vice versa, if ur government doesn't follows d timetable then don't blame us fr tht. Nd, if dis is nt d case then DAWN, u should have properly published d time when request fr VISA was filed so tht we Indians can also come to knw if it is our government which is at fault.

This is an international event and India should be taken to the international courts for now allowing Pakistani athletes to take part in it, the world body that looks over sports events should bar India from holding international events if such cases occur.

This is a clear sign of political interference in sport which no international body can tolerate.
Pakistan should work with its allies to ensure no sporting event is held in India unless political interference ceases and visas are granted efficiently.

It is the fault of federation, if Indians are going to play favourites in awarding the visa then maybe hold the tournament in a country all accepting like UAE.
Maybe Indians are so afraid of losing that they will do anything to deny the talented athletes.

This is really petulant & uncalled for by India. Exchange of athletes & entertainers is the best way create some goodwill when such animosity exists between the two countries. On the other I hope Pakistan also disciplines its athletes so that incidents like the one after Pakistan's hockey team win against India does not happen again.

A pakistani citizen needs to submit his documents 3 months before the journey to get visa.Reason for this is to verify that person properly as everyone knows how much pakistanies loves india.Your wristeling fedration submit documents 45-50 days before which is less then the required time. And for us rules are rules no .So please next time keepnin mind that information you will get your visa easily.

It's not that Pakistanis are lining up to visit the Indian slums, these were athletes going for an IOC event which happens to be in India but India as usual shows it's true class or lack of it.

The pros and cons aside, all Asian and world sports associations should handle visas, and if there is delay, the event should be shifted to a neutral country. If there is delay it should be for everyone, not just India or Pakistan ... Both juvenile countries.

I suspect that Pakistani authorities didn't timely apply for visas. In any event, if Pakistan whines enough, then India may let in these athletes. Inshallah.
