MUZAFFARABAD: An ambulance carrying the victims of a road accident itself met an accident on Tuesday, leaving two of them dead.

Police said that a Suzuki van was coming to Muzaffarabad from Hattian Bala, when it went out of the driver’s control while overtaking another vehicle and plunged into a ravine.

As a result, driver Musanaf and three passengers – Altaf, Jabbar Mir, and Zubair Shah, were injured. Two schoolgirls, Rida and Nadia, who were walking on the road, were also injured after being hit by the van.

The injured persons were rushed to Muzaffarabad in three ambulances, of which one met an accident on the outskirts of the city.

“Apparently, the brakes of the speeding ambulance failed following which it hit the roadside pyraped with a big bang,” said a police official, adding, the front portion of the vehicle was completely smashed.

As a result of the second accident, Altaf, and Zubair were killed. Zubair was a resident of Nowshera (KP) working as a prayer caller in a Muzaffarbad mosque.

A police constable accompanying the injured persons and the ambulance driver were also injured.

The injured persons were, however, said to be out of danger at the Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital here.
