KARACHI: Ghayour Khan, who was a pioneer of basketball in the city, died after a protracted illness in the US on Saturday, close friends of the deceased said. He was 80.
Sources said wife of Ghayour Khan had died three months back.
A contemporary of Khanzada Ehsan Khan, Ustad Rehman and Mohammad Khan among others, the deceased was instrumental in promoting the game in the country in general and the city in particular in the formative years of Pakistan.
He was an employee of US Consulate in the city and after his retirement he migrated to the US with his family.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Basketball Association has condoled the demise of Ghayour Khan.
