THE Charsadda bazaar is now flooded with surgeons performing circumcision. They are ignorant of the surgical aspects of performing circumcision. They have set up their counters inside medical stores in front of the DHQ Hospital, and perform circumcision without any qualification, certificate, experience and due care.
They usually charge Rs1,000-1,500 per child. Like any surgical procedure, there are certain risks associated with circumcision.
The government must step in and ban all unauthorised practitioners to ensure the safety of children.
