KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said on Thursday that the two men whom the FC claimed to have arrested in Chaman and who are said to be involved in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder were not its members.

An FC spokesman said earlier in the day that Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim were arrested in Addah Kahol area near the Pak-Afghan border when they entered Pakistan from Afghanistan. He said the two suspects had affiliation with a Karachi-based political party.

The MQM’s coordination committee said the men were not members of the party.

In a statement, the MQM said Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim were believed to have been in the custody of an agency for the past four years.

The coordination committee made it clear that the two men had no connection with the MQM and that neither the party had any information about them nor did it know when they were arrested.
