ISLAMABAD: Execution of death sentences scheduled to be carried out during the month of Ramazan has been suspended, it was announced on Thursday.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed that execution of death sentences scheduled during Ramazan may be temporarily suspended to observe the sanctity of the holy month.
Directions in this regard have been issued to the ministry of interior and provincial governments for implementation.
It may mentioned that Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani had spoken to the prime minister for halting executions during the holy month.
